Edward James Bishop, 87, of Fishersville, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2022.
Ed was born on December 24, 1934 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to the late Harry and Edna Bishop.
As a young man he loved and excelled in track. He participated in baseball, but his passion was playing tennis, and later in life loved pickle ball and playing card games.
He graduated from high school in Magrath, Alberta, Canada. He attended Brigham Young University and graduated from the University of Utah.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, but throughout his professional life was in management positions. He was employed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 1977-2000. He worked with the church in seven international areas and throughout the U.S. He enjoyed being involved in the Welfare and Humanitarian arms of the church. While with Humanitarian he traveled extensively in Asia and the South Pacific.
He was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ed thought his greatest achievement was his family. He had many professional achievements, was very organized and an excellent manager of people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Arlene Hofer; brothers, Ike and Russell Bishop; and also his grandson, Brady Lee Nielsen.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Janice Breeze Bishop and they were married on August 8, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His children: Christine Nielsen and husband, Eric, of Fishersville, Virginia; son, Keith Neil Bishop and his wife, Jennie, of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren: Sarah Cramer and husband, Nathan, of Waynesboro, Virginia; Matthew Bishop Nielsen and wife, Melissa, of Rosemount, Minnesota; Kyle Bishop Nielsen and his wife, Tricia, of Buena Vista, Virginia; Neil Barnes Bishop and his wife, Lauren, of Cincinnati, Ohio; Hannah Nicole Rollins and her husband, Davin, of Mesa, Arizona; and Darren Barnes Bishop of Cibolo, Texas. Great grandchildren: Toby, Nora, Jesse, Casey and Tessa Cramer; Brody, Charlotte, Elaine and Adelaide Nielsen; Clarke, Grant and Preston Nielsen; Collin and Blake Bishop; Brother: Stanley Bishop and his wife, Ardene, of Cardston, Alberta, Canada.
Family will receive friends from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful.
The family extends gratitude and thanks to the various caregivers, Hospice nurses and home aides for their special care, as well as local church members for their thoughtfulness.
