Biography

Edward Hardy Rampton 94, passed away on November 1, 2012 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born in Bountiful on January 29, 1918, the fifth son of James H. and Eugenia Hardy Rampton.
Ed attended Davis County schools, graduated from Davis High School in 1935 and later attended Utah State University. He served an LDS mission in the Texas -Louisiana mission.
Ed worked for several farmers in Bountiful during his youth. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman and was well acquainted with Ward and Holbrook Canyons. These being his favorite fishing spots in his younger years. In his later years, he loved fishing in the Pinedale, Wyoming area.
Ed served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army and was stationed in the USA by touring U. S. cities participating in the U. S, Army War Show to encourage the purchase of war bonds. He later served in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands.
He married Cleo Clark in the Logan Temple on September 22, 1947. Ed and Cleo recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Upon their marriage, he became the instant father of 2 beautiful little girls who he later adopted.
Ed was very active in the Bountiful Junior Chamber of Commerce of which he served as President. Through this affiliation, he was awarded the Key Man Award by the local organization and the Distinguished Service Award by the national organization for community service.
As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, he served in two bishoprics; one brought enormous joy and testimony growth by serving the needs of elderly members of the church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five bothers and a grandson. Ed is survived by wife Cleo, and his children Trauma Ann George, Bountiful, Utah; Carol (Jim) Cottam, Tempe, Arizona; Ted (Jana) Rampton, Lehi, Utah; Marial Rampton (Don) Green, Murray Utah; and 16 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of the Legacy House of Bountiful and Applegate Hospice for their tender loving care and service.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 37th Ward, 1540 N. 400 East. There will be a viewing Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Wednesday morning 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment – Bountiful Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ed’s honor may be made to the LDS Humanitarian Aid fund.

There will be a viewing Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Wednesday morning 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment – Bountiful Memorial Park.
