Edwin Chellus Hall

Edwin Chellus Hall, born October 23, 1931, in Maeser, Uintah County, Utah, to Hannah Leonia Ashby, and Thomas E. Hall, passed away on January 3, 2016, in Kaysville, Utah, at the age of 84.

Edwin was the youngest of ten children in a close and loving family.  Preceding him in death are siblings: Lela Carter, Freda Losee, Jay, Don, LuDeen Winegar, Mary McBride, and Garth.  Brothers (and wives), Bruce (Laurel) Hall; and Glade (Ruby) Hall survive, along with Beth Hall, sister-in-law, and many nieces and nephews. 

Edwin married Iona May Snyder in the Salt Lake Temple on September 10, 1953.  They celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in September 2015.  Together they have five children:  Brady S. (Becky) Hall, Brian K. (Kaloni) Hall, Linda Hall (Val) Hill, Roger E. (Ilene) Hall, and Lorna Hall (Bryan) Johnson.  They have 23 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren; all of whom, are loved dearly.

Harry Dean Winegar, a nephew, was welcomed into the family when eleven years old. 

Edwin received a degree in Elementary Education from Brigham Young University in 1956, and taught school in Bountiful, Roy, and Hooper, Utah.  He also was a Bookmobile Librarian; he enjoyed connecting with families, and making books available for readers all over Weber County, Utah.  Construction work filled in some summer months.  Employment was also with the L.D.S. Church in the Deseret Industries program.  He was a truck driver- servicing neighborhoods; plus gave hope to young men who went with him, instructing them for future employability. 

Edwin was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and found time for dedicated church service, serving as a bishop counselor in Roy 1st Ward; then as Bishop of the new 14th Ward.  Other callings were in the Young Men’s program, High Priest Group, Stake Missionary, Home Teacher, etc.  Edwin and Iona served as Ordinance Workers for 10 years in the Bountiful Temple.

Twice Edwin had the opportunity to serve the Lord full time: first as a young man serving in the L.D.S. Texas-Louisiana Mission, later, with his wife, Iona, as a welfare-services missionary (employment) in the Chicago, Illinois area.  They also served as local service missionaries in the employment program in Davis County.

Edwin had a strong testimony of Jesus Christ that he bore daily in his love, consideration, and help rendered to others.  His family, friends and “all he came in contact with,” will miss him dearly plus his jokes and sense of humor.  He was a friend to all.

Visitation time will commence Friday, January 8, 2016, 6-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Funeral Home, 1941 N. Main St. Farmington, Utah. Saturday, January 9, 2016, Visitation will commence at the Kaysville South Stake Center, 900 South Main, Kaysville, at 9:30 A.M., with Funeral Services following at 11:00 A.M. Interment:  Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 E. Crestwood Road.
