Edythe Bradley

October 28, 1919 — July 29, 2013

Edythe Alice Yancey Bradley died July 29, 2013. She was born October 28, 1919 in Blackfoot, Idaho. She was almost 94 years old but you would never have known it! She lived in and cared for her own home until four months ago.
She was the sixth of eight children born to Effie Jane Cobbley and James Henry Yancey. She is survived by her brother Harold (Ruth, deceased) Yancey and her sister Maxine (Max, deceased) Stone and was preceded in death by Gladys (Var) Buchanan, Evelyn Yancey, Zola (Lawrence) Ricks, Lowell (Florence) Yancey, and Elaine (Earl) Searle.
Edythe met the dashingly handsome Neil Bradley at a roller skating rink in Shelley, Idaho. She waited for him while he served his mission and then they married in the Salt Lake Temple just a few weeks after he returned home. They are the parents of 8 children: Joan (D.J.) Simpson, Patricia (Bruce) Barton, Reed (Julia) Bradley, Mark (Jean) Bradley, Todd (Stacy) Bradley. Three more babies were born who died at birth or shortly thereafter: Kristen, Preston and Thomas. Edythe loved and cared for her family. She has 34 grandchildren and 64 great- grandchildren.
Neil was 6’2″ and Edythe was 5’2″ but they were a match made in heaven. Both hard workers and thrifty to the core, they supported each other through the thick and thin of life including missions for the LDS Church to New Zealand (1956-59) and England (1960-64), 18 moves, 4 homes built by Dad ( many more repaired, repainted and refurbished), 15 years of service in the Salt Lake and Bountiful Temples, and extensive travel all over the world until Neil’s health declined. Edythe tenderly cared for him until his death in 1998.
Edythe spent the last 4 months at Apple Village Assisted Living in Layton. To the staff there and to Kim of Caregivers, we thank you for your watchful care. Our family expresses a heartfelt “thank you” to the many friends and members of the Canyon Park Ward in Bountiful where she lived for the past 50 years.
Our Mom excelled at giving herself away, thus our lives were filled with her. We will miss our Mom and Grandma! Her life was her testimony.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 3rd at Canyon Park Ward, 1190 E. Bountiful Hills Drive. Friends may visit Friday evening from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and again Saturday prior to funeral at the Church from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.
Interment at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
