Eileen Allred Bell

Surrounded by love and eternal gratitude, Eileen Allred Bell peacefully passed through the veil and returned home on the evening of May 9th after living and loving beautifully for eighty-nine years.  All eight of her children were present and were given the gift of being able to hold their dear, sweet mother one more time as they bid her Godspeed to the other side, where they knew their father was waiting to embrace his sweetheart.  

Eileen’s journey began April 24th, in the Spring of 1928 in Raymond, Alberta, Canada where J. Urban and Edna Bingham Allred welcomed their twelfth child into the world.  When she was nine years old, the Allred family moved to Logan Utah where Eileen spent her formative years.  While attending college at Utah State University in Logan, Utah, she worked as a typist in the LDS Logan Temple.  It was here, while working, that she caught the eye of a dashing, young, returned missionary, James Hyrum Bell, who knew from the moment he saw her she would become his wife.  On June 13, 1949 they were sealed for time and all eternity in the very temple where they had met. 

Over the course of their life together, school and work took them across Utah, Colorado and Idaho.  They are blessed with eight children, five boys and three girls.  Eventually, the Bell family settled in Bountiful, Utah, where there was rarely a fair day that one would not find Eileen outside working in her gardens.  She loved to make things grow, and loved all things beautiful.  Beyond raising Jim (Doc Bell), her eight children and tending to her yard, she held many church callings, including a 1992 mission to Nauvoo, Illinois and a 1997 Sesquicentennial Pioneer Trek from Illinois to the Salt Lake valley. One of her great loves was music, and she served as President of the Utah Youth Symphony Orchestra in support of her cellist son Mark.

She is survived by 8 children; David, Stan, Karen, Kristine Tanner, JoLyn Ure, Eric, James, Mark, 30 grandchildren, 72 great grandchildren and infinite blooming flowers.  At times like this when the question is posed, “Who was Eileen Allred Bell?”, all one needs to do to find the answer, is to look in the face of anyone who has been graced by her and you’ll know; she was, and still is, Love.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Farmington South Stake Center, 695 S. 200 E.  A viewing will be held from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the service.
