Elaine Reese Farmer, born on June 25, 1935, in Logan, Utah, to Andrew Lee Reese and Jessie Fitzgerald Stewart, peacefully returned home to her Heavenly Father on January 23, 2025. She is deeply loved as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.
Elaine attended Logan High School, where she was president of the Girls League and on the student council. She was crowned Junior Prom Queen, while her brother Dale, was the drummer in the prom band, a memory she cherished. Elaine continued her education at Utah State University, where she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and served as a Second Lieutenant in the ROTC Sponsor Corps. During her time there, she met the love of her life, Kelly Neil Farmer. Kelly’s persistence and affection won Elaine over, and the couple was eternally sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 4, 1956.
Elaine graduated in 1957 with a Bachelor of Science in Education and began her career teaching special education at Adam’s School and Edith Bowen School in Logan, Utah. She devoted her time to specialized education classes, helping exceptional children reach their full potential. Elaine’s teaching was rooted in love, compassion, and a deep belief in the value of every child, lessons she also instilled in her own family.
Elaine tirelessly supported Kelly as he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. In 1959, the couple moved to Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where Kelly served in the Army. Elaine temporarily returned to Logan, where she taught fifth grade at Woodruff Elementary School. After joining Kelly in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, they eventually returned to Utah, settling in Bountiful, where they built a lifetime of memories.
Together, Elaine and Kelly founded National Product Sales, Inc. (NPS), a thriving freight recovery business that has operated for over 56 years. The couple worked side by side, often with their children, building the business with dedication, determination and sacrifice.
Elaine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to service. She held numerous callings in Relief Society, Primary, and Sunday School, and always emphasized the importance of tithing and maintaining a temple recommend.
In her later years, Elaine moved to Creekside Assisted Living, where she formed treasured friendships with residents and caregivers who treated her with dignity and kindness.
Elaine is survived by her three children: Julie (JR) Collins, Kelly (Nicole), and Daniel (Lisa); 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog, Teddy. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Kelly N. Farmer; her parents, Lee and Jessie; her siblings, Beth Hovey and Dale Reese;and her daughter-in-law, Stacy Sappenfield Farmer.
Her family will forever cherish the lessons she taught through her words and actions.She inspired all who knew her with her faith, kindness, and selflessness.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 6–8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, and on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 9:45–10:45 a.m. at the LDS Chapel,165 South 1000 East, Bountiful, Utah. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m., with interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Elaine’s family asks that you honor her legacy by serving and loving those around you, just as she did throughout her life.
