Elbert Earl Brown
1932 – 2015

Elbert Earl Brown was born May 21, 1932 In Los Angeles, California to Earl Travis Brown and Marjorie Peck Brown. He graduated from Paso Robles High School in California. He continued his education at Brigham Young University, graduating with a bachelor's degree. As a computer programmer he worked for Neighborhood Health, Family Health Plan (FHP), and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. One of his first assignments with the Church was to travel to California with a team of workers where they determined that computers could be used in genealogical research. When he retired he continued his work for the Church as a service missionary.

Elbert married his sweetheart Dona Rae Larsen on October 25, 1961 in the Salt Lake Temple. They enjoyed traveling throughout the world meeting new friends and visiting beautiful places. Recently they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family and friends.

Elbert was born with cerebral palsy. His doctor said he would never walk, but he never let his disability keep him from accomplishing his dreams. He was an advocate of the disabled, working to improve physical accessibilities in public places. He also served for many years on the board of Big Wood Condominiums in Sun Valley, Idaho. He was an active supporter of missionary work, giving copies of The Book of Mormon to many. He was an avid genealogist, submitting thousands of family names to the Church Family History Library. He was charitable to family, friends, and those in need. He will long be remembered for his kind service.

Elbert is survived by his wife Dona, sisters-in-law Jean Jensen, Ina Madsen (Tennys), brother-in-law Keith Dallon Larsen (Esther), nieces Grace Larsen, Corine Hart (Brody), Melodie Gardner (Josh), Shelly Hardy (Randal),  nephews Dairus Jensen (Harmony), Gary Jensen (Lynne), Terry Jensen (Valarie) and fifteen great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday July 25, at 11:00 AM in the Canyon Rim Stake Center at 3051 South 2900 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Missionary Fund or any worthy charity. Online guestbook available at russonmortuary.com
