ELDON LAMBSON WHITTAKER

1914-2009

Eldon Lambson Whittaker passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2009. Eldon was born November 13, 1914 in Salt Lake City to Wilford Whittaker and Sarah W. Davis. He served an LDS mission to the New England States. On September 30, 1942 he married Dorothy Evelyn Savage. He served four years in the Army, fighting in the Philippines in World War II, and wounded in the battle for the liberation of Manila.

Eldon’s life work was a skilled craftsman. He gained much enjoyment from owning horses and was a skilled rider. He and Dorothy served as temple workers for fifteen years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, with special devotion to Dorothy. He led a very interesting life and had many fun stories. He had a great sense of humor and has finally kicked the much talked about bucket.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy, daughter Sharen Dennis Jorgenson, son Larry Lynne, brother Joseph, sister Julina Jacobson, eight grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Our House assisted living, Eclipse Home Health, and Silverado Hospice for their loving care. Funeral services will be held at Russon Brother’s Mortuary, 255 S. 200 E., Salt Lake City, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21. A viewing will be held prior to the services at 9:45.
