If you want to know what ministering looks like, remember the life of Eleonore Ingeborg Fassmann. She sought after the one in need and found a life of joy in this service. She cared for family, friends and all those around her. When she could no longer care for her husband, Walter, at home, she spent 8 hours each day at his care facility for 4 years. She was a lifelong faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Inge passed away peacefully in her home at the age of 91 surrounded by family on January 28, 2019.
Inge was born on April 13, 1927 in Zwickau, Germany and grew up in a war torn Germany. She lost her father, Max Ewald Beckert, to the war at age 14. Her mother, Elisabeth Marie Schmutzler, and three sisters persisted through the war and the transition to a communist regime. She was married to Walter Karl Fassmann in 1949 in Zwickau, Germany. In their early life they had many trials and adventures which took them from East Germany to Canada to the United States. Their marriage was solemnized for eternity in the Cardston Alberta Temple in 1953. They raised their family in Salt Lake City, Utah. One of the great joys in Inge Oma's life was tending and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her three daughters, Karen (Jared), Ellen, Judy (Dave) and her son, Glenn (Heidi), 12 grandchildren, Kristy (Jeff), Cindy (Darrin), Brandon (Megan), Allison (Stephen), Nicholas, Adam, Andrew (Sarah), Wesley (Maren), Elise (Isaac), Hannah (Jacob), Jesse (Bryce), Mitch (Aja) and 14 great grandchildren and two more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her father and mother and her three sisters, Johanne, Charlotte, Marianne, and her brother, Hellmut.
She was active in helping others until the last days of her life.
