Our radiant redhead Mary Elizabeth Tingey Anderson passed away from an unexpected medical incident on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Born on November 18, 1990, in Syracuse, New York, Elizabeth grew up living in many places, making friends and leaving a mark of love and laughter in her wake. Known as “Biffy” to her family and “Liz” to her friends, Elizabeth lived almost as if she knew her time would be brief filling each moment of her life to overflowing with adventure, fun, love, and service. Every day brought new possibilities to experience something new, hatch a plan, or help another feel loved.
There are many who will miss her, especially her adoring husband Garen, daughters London (7) and Eloise (5), sons Bennett (3) and Jack (7 weeks), parents Craig and Jill Tingey, in-laws Jeffrey and Saundra Anderson, siblings Benjamin (Jacquelyne), Alison (Brandon) Stewart, Abigail (Oliver) Jest, and Jack (Ashley), and siblings-in-law Talon (Nicole), Shaelyn (Jake) Millburn, and Tara (Karl) Beckert. Her love and light will endure, inspiring and uplifting those whose lives she touched.
Elizabeth thrived at Brigham Young University, studying abroad in Israel and participating in the BYU Washington, DC Seminar. She served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Portugal. While at BYU, she caught the eye and heart of Garen Kay Anderson. They quickly fell in love and married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 8, 2015. Together they made their home in Texas and then Ohio.
A strong and empowered woman, Elizabeth fiercely loved her husband and deeply cherished her role as a mother. Her influence on her children was one of tender affection and nurturing support. That influence will continue as her children grow to embrace life as their mother did. She thrived on planning adventures and parties, creating memories, and bringing people together. She had many passions and hobbies, loved animals, sports, the ocean, food, music and dancing, and championed numerous social causes.
Elizabeth’s family would like to thank the clinicians and staff at Mercy Health Anderson Hospital, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center CVICU and Organ Transplant team, the Cherry Grove congregation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the outpouring of love shown from friends all over the world. To honor her memory, the family requests that you plan an adventure with your loved ones and remember to love, always.
