Elizabeth (Fortin) Dube

October 6, 1955 — February 18, 2025

Bountiful, UT

Elizabeth (Fortin) Dube, 69, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Creekside Senior Living in Bountiful, Utah, February 18th, 2025, after a long battle with failing health.

Elizabeth was born October 6, 1955, in Presque Isle, Maine, to the late Gilbert and Aline Fortin. During her childhood, Elizabeth went to school in Presque Isle, Millinocket, and eventually graduating in 1973 from Cony High School in Augusta, Maine.

After graduating from Thomas College in 1978, Elizabeth entered the world of accounting. In 1980, she took a job offer in the accounting department for the State of Arizona. Just days before moving to Arizona, Elizabeth met the love of her life Raymond Dube at a firemen's ball in Presque Isle. The two of them stayed in contact via phone and mail until they realized they could not live apart any longer. Raymond and Elizabeth were married in the fall of 1980 and remained joined at the hip in Arizona for 40 years until his passing in March of 2020.

Recently, Elizabeth moved to Utah to be closer to family and to receive care from the amazing staff at Creekside Senior Living. Elizabeth's last months were filled with people who loved her deeply. Those who came in contact with her could not help but fall in love with her. She had a quick wit all the way to the end, and she would tell you whatever was on her mind no matter where or who she was around. Her caretakers had an entire group text set up to share "Queen Elizabeth" stories. As a family, we have countless "Aunt Bette" quotes of the day and stories. She truly was the center of our universe for the last little while and we are going to miss her greatly. She gave us more entertainment in a day than others would provide in a year. She cannot be replaced.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband Raymond, sister and best friend Diana Ferland of Presque Isle, Maine, and sister Carol Lane of East Haven, Connecticut. She is survived by her mother-in-law Elaine Dube of North Berwick, Maine, brother Carlton (Paula) Fortin of St. George, Utah, and brother Dana Fortin of Caribou, Maine. Elizabeth is also survived by her niece Michele Ferland (Sarah Landry) of Frenchville, Maine, nephew Jason Ferland and his wife Nicole, great-nephew Brayden Ferland and his wife Tiajuana, great-niece and possibly her favorite person on earth, Cassidy Ferland-Smith and her husband Lincoln, all of Utah.

We want to thank everyone who cared for Elizabeth, both in Arizona and in Utah. We really can't put in words how thankful we are to everyone at Creekside Senior Living and her team from Ovation Hospice led by her doctor Jennifer Griswold and RN Britnee Barney. They not only made her life medically better, but they showed her love and compassion during her entire journey.
