Elizabeth Marie Schmidt Ogilvie was born April 14,1932 to Philipp & Marie Hechler Schmidt in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away peacefully at home on May 24, 2023 of natural causes.
Liz’s parents & brother immigrated from Germany to the United States in 1929. They lived in Chicago until Liz was 10, then moved west to Woods Cross, Utah. They lived on a farm where she learned to work hard, milking cows & picking apples.
She graduated from Davis High School in 1950 & attended LDS Business College.
Elizabeth was married to Robert David Ogilvie on June 20, 1952 in the Salt Lake temple.
They had 3 children pass away in their infancy & 3 grown to adulthood (Jill, Bret & Pam).
In 1969 they moved to Bountiful, where they settled in to raise their children.
In 1980 she returned to work, first at University of Utah & then Utah Power & Light, retiring in 1993.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with a strong testimony of the Savior & a great love of the scriptures. She was a member of the Golden Gleaners & served in many church callings, her favorite being stake primary chorister. She blessed our home with music, playing the piano & singing.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren & great grandchildren.
She always signed her letters & cards “The Gospel is true & I love you”.
She was preceded in death by her husband R David Ogilvie; brother Philip Schmidt; sisters Christina & Johanna; 3 children: Sheri Kay, Ann Marie & Terry David; and her great-grandson, Campbell Scott Myers.
She is survived by her children, Bret Ogilvie, Jill (Rex) Christensen, Pam (Bob) Myers; 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Mueller Park 3rd Ward Chapel, 1825 South 850 East, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, and Saturday morning 12:45-1:45 p.m. at the church prior to services.
