Ellen Jones

Ellen Gardner Jones, 93, passed away peacefully April 12, 2014 in Providence, Utah leaving a legacy of service, kindness and love.
She was born May 29, 1920 in Logan, Utah to Robert and Nellie Barker Gardner. She grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado and graduated from Utah State University in 1942. She married Max Willard Jones on June 14, 1943 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived many years in California before moving to St. George, Utah in 1980. They later lived in Centerville, Bountiful and Logan, Utah.
She was an active member of the LDS church and served in many positions including teaching numerous children in Junior Sunday School and Primary, Relief Society teacher and counselor, ward organist and ordinance worker in the St. George Temple. She loved music, became a fine organist and encouraged her children to study music. She was an excellent seamstress, sewing many things for herself, her family and the Humanitarian Center. She was an excellent cook and served many meals to family and friends travelling thru St. George. She loved to travel and in later years found joy in seeing the photos from her travels and the travels of her children.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, developing a close relationship with many of her posterity. She is survived by her children, Marilyn Robbins (Bill), Lorraine Barton (Don), Charles (Sue) and Marvin (Annette); 19 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; brother Herbert (JoAnn); sister – in -law Margorie. Preceded in death by her husband Max and brother Wilford.
The family would like to thank her doctor, nurses and staff of the assisted living and hospice groups for their kind and compassionate service. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 12:00 noon at the Dry Canyon Ward Chapel, 1350 Eastridge Dr. Logan, Utah. Friends and family may call from 10:30 am to 11:30 am prior to the service. Burial will be in the Centerville City Cemetery.
