Our beloved and devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend, Ellis Gale Jensen (76) passed away unexpectedly at Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah due to complications from pulmonary fibrosis.
Gale was born on August 4, 1940 in Burley, Idaho to Ellis Alfred and Fern Saxton Jensen. He spent his youth in Southern Idaho and graduated from Burley High School. He attended Idaho State University, majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Drafting. He put his education and talents to use enjoying a successful career in the construction industry. He worked as an estimator, project manager and superintendent for several Utah general contractor construction companies.
Gale married Cheryl Lynne Thompson of Garland, Utah on April 16, 1965, later divorced. They lived in Bountiful and Centerville, Utah where they raised their three sons; David, Darin, and Brett. Later in life Gale met Julaine Johnson Cozzens of Lovell, Wyoming and they married on April 12, 2002. They lived in Farmington, Utah and spent their time serving, traveling, entertaining, cheering for BYU, and attending endless events in support of their children and grandchildren. Gale had a love for the game of golf and made many great memories playing with his sons, brothers, and friends. He was also an avid photographer, skillfully capturing life’s special moments.
Gale was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving faithfully in many capacities throughout his life, his favorite being the years he spent adventuring with the Boy Scouts and sharing his love of camping, fishing, hiking and exploring the great outdoors. Most recently he and Julaine could be found serving as Temple Square missionaries. He was proud to represent the LDS Church and loved helping visitors learn more about the Gospel, the Pioneers, and the beauty and history of the great state of Utah.
Gale is survived by his wife Julaine; sons David Jensen, Salt Lake, Darin Jensen (Elise), Kaysville, Brett Jensen (Emi), Osaka, Japan; brothers Dan Jensen (Sara), Seattle, WA, Monte Jensen (Terri), Eagle, ID; step-children Kirt Cozzens (Janet), Powell, WY, Chris Cozzens (Jan), North Salt Lake, Todd Cozzens, Roberts, MT, Tyler Cozzens (George), San Francisco, CA, and Tiffany Coughenour, Idaho Falls, ID; 19 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild, and many other dear extended family members and friends who loved him and his incredibly big heart and generous spirit. His presence in our lives will be missed more than we can express.
A viewing will be held Tuesday, July 25 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary, 1491 North Main Street, Farmington, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 26 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shepard Creek Ward, 1533 North 1075 West, Farmington, Utah. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.
