Elroy W. Brady

Elroy W. Brady was born June 15, 1924 to William Stephen and Lillian Whiting Brady in West Jordan, UT. He was the oldest of six children. He passed away at home on May 28, with his daughter at his side.
Elroy spent his childhood swimming in the Jordan River and running with his West Side buddies. He graduated from West High School and was proud to be a Panther.
Elroy met and married Maurine Vance Brady on October 5, 1943. Three days later he left to serve in WWII in the U.S. Navy. He traveled to Panama on the U.S.S. Ranger where he served until January, 1946. While in the navy, he excelled at boxing, a skill he often used with his care givers in his later years ߘ‰ Sharing his Navy stories was always a source of pride.
Maurine and Elroy made their home in West Kaysville, raising a family of three children, where he resided until his death. He loved tinkering on his little farm. Ever a farmer at heart, he considered  the smell of manure “liquid gold”.
Elroy loved his family and would give them the shirt off his back.  He taught his kids how to work hard, invent any contraption to improvise, and how to save a buck by doing it yourself. He also considered himself quite an inventor. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved to camp. In his later years, you’d find him outside moving from chair to chair and enjoying his face in the sun. He loved his tractor and just two days before his passing, from his wheelchair, he shared his plans to upgrade. His ultimate delicacy was a McDonald’s cheeseburger and a coke with no ice.
Elroy is preceded in death by his eternal companion, Maurine, for whom he lovingly cared for many years until her passing in 2013.  He is also preceded in death by his son Michael and many loved ones.  He is survived by his son Larry (Marie) Brady of Hazelton, PA, daughter Robyn (Kevin) Barkdull of Centerville, brother Lynn (Pam) Brady of MI, six grandchildren, and many great grandchildren.
Friends and family may attend a viewing on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Smith Lane Chapel on 1449 Thoroughbred Drive in Kaysville, UT.  A graveside service will be held at the Fairview City Cemetery at 3:30 p.m.
