Elsie May McCleve Yarbrough

May 15, 1928 — October 4, 2019

Elsie May McCleve Yarbrough, 91 years old, peacefully passed away on Friday the 4th of October at the Lakeview Hospital in Bountiful, Utah. She was surrounded by her loved ones who mourn her loss.
She has been a resident of Bountiful since July of 2005 and lived near 2 of her daughters and their families who live in Farmington.
She was born on May the 15th of 1928 in the small rural community of Pinedale, Arizona to the proud parents of Joseph Alexander McCleve and Lillian Wahl McCleve. She was the oldest of three children. Her brother has since deceased and her sister lives in Oregon.
She grew up working alongside her father at their small farm in Taylor, Arizona. She was an exceptionally bright child and excelled in Math and in her Spelling skills. She had beautiful penmanship and she learned to play the piano and accordion well. As a youth she enjoyed participating with others in a dance band.
She married and had a family of four girls and one boy. She has been an active member of the Church of  Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she has held many positions of leadership throughout her life. She was blessed to be able to serve three missions for her
Church which she enjoyed greatly.
Elsie had many talents. She was a gifted seamstress, musician, and loved gardening. She was especially known for her beautiful yard and the lovely flowers that surrounded her home in the Spring and Summer. Her greatest talent of all was in showing love and kindness to those around her. She had a vibrant personality and a fun sense of humor. As the years passed and her health began to decline, her sense of humor really got her through. She was unwilling to give in to discouragement but kept up a positive outlook on life no matter what pain she may have been feeling.
Many have been influenced by her cheerful and happy nature and her spunky personality. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, JoAn Matweyew, Wanda Yarbrough, Debra Poulsen, Marsha Echols and Gary Yarbrough. She has 18 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren, with two more on the way, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Her services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday the 12th of October at the Stonecreek Chapel, 1476 North 300 West, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held prior to the service from 11:45 to 1:15. She will be laid to rest after the funeral at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
