Elwynn Henry Jensen (Wynn)
May 7, 1932-December 11, 2016
Our loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Elwynn H. Jensen passed away December 11, 2016 in his home with loving family surrounding him. He was born May 7, 1932 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Elias Henry and Amy Grover Jensen. Early in his life his parents moved with him to Brigham City where he grew up and attended local schools. He graduated from Box Elder High School in 1950. After attending one year at Brigham Young University he enlisted and spent four years in the navy serving on a flag ship in the pacific. Upon completion of his navy commitment he returned to Brigham City where he attended and graduated from Utah State University with a degree in political science. During this time he met a charming young lady by the name of Juanita Snow. They were married June 1, 1957. In 1990 they were sealed in the Logan Temple for time and eternity. Together they had two children Jana (Greg) Gentry (Dallas, Texas) and Erik Henry Jensen (deceased). While living in Korea they acquired a “god” daughter, Rachel Moon. He was so proud of his granddaughter Erin and his grandson Ryan children of Jana and Greg Gentry.
While in the navy Wynn became a wanderlust and he and Juanita traveled the four corners of the earth. After retiring from the union oil company for which he worked for 30 years he became a tour guide and together he and Juanita spent 10 years taking groups of people to many places around the world. Their favorite places to visit were China and then Russia. Juanita passed away in 2007.
Wynn and Darlene Meservy first met when they became neighbors and friends at age 11. They attended and graduated from high school together and then went their separate ways but maintained a friendship throughout the years and on July 10, 2009 they were married. In December 2010 they were sealed in the Bountiful Temple for time and eternity. This marriage brought two sons, fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren into Wynn’s life. He loved living close enough to them that he could see them frequently. He loved them and they adored their grandpa Wynn. Together Wynn and Darlene traveled the world over. They saw new sights and cultures that neither had seen nor experienced before. Wynn had the privilege of visiting six of the seven continents of the world. He was a kind, caring, giving and loving person with a delightful positive attitude. He was a great story teller and people were drawn to him. He had many lifelong friends.
Wynn is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Meservy-Jensen (Centerville, UT); his daughter, Jana (Greg) Gentry, granddaughter Erin Gentry, grandson Ryan Gentry (all of Texas); his sisters Lavonne (Schott) Davis (Momument, CO); Carol (Rick) Hill (Logan, UT); Karen (Gerry) Hodges (Fish Haven) ID; two step-sons Chris Burrows, lon (Julie) Brian (UT).
