Emily Ann Jensen

December 1, 1981 — February 7, 2018

On December 1, 1981, our sweet Emily Ann Jensen took her first deep breath of Bountiful air.

Only 36 short years and a few weeks later, February 7th, 2018, Emily’s last breath slipped across her sweet lips as she rested at her parents' home, recovering from a horseback riding accident that happened a few days before.

Her life between those two fateful days was filled with the love she had instinctively shared with all those around her from the very moment she was born.  Born the third of four children, she quickly realized her special role as the only daughter to Clayne and Julie Jensen.   From an early age, she embraced the desire to help and care for others thoroughly and completely.  Emily’s capacity for love and the altruism she demonstrated could only be explained by an inward desire to support and bear-up others.

Emily spent her time as a healer, educator, paramedic, and firefighter, greatly influencing the lives of anyone fortunate enough to cross her path.  Her selflessness was unparalleled and she always looked for a way to help anyone in need. She volunteered hours of her life tutoring students to help them become healers themselves. She was a fierce and loyal friend who would frequently give beyond what she could afford, even to strangers.   She spent her life giving of herself and improving the lives of those around her.  She thrived being a caregiver and always was lifting those in need.

When anyone who knew Emily takes a solemn moment to remember her, they will certainly recall her love of nature, and her love of animals and pets, of which she had many. She was the ultimate animal whisperer.  If she wasn’t taking care of her critters or her family, you could trust that she was on an adventure, driving sometimes obscene distances to reach what she would undoubtedly see as a beautiful, inviting wilderness just waiting for her to know them.  She was always up for a road trip and she was the best companion to anyone she was with.  She relished following a trail twisting its way through an as-yet unexplored wood, peering with anticipation at the next bend, wondering what lay beyond the close trees that blocked her view.

Emily has finally reached the clearing in the wood at the end of the trail, where she will be joined in due time by her still-living trail-mates. As an endowed member of the LDS Church, she was faithful to her Heavenly Father and followed the teachings of her Savior and Redeemer, Jesus Christ.  She was an example of His love and active service to anyone she met.   Emily is survived by her loving parents, Clayne and Julie Jensen of West Bountiful, Utah, her three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Steve Jensen and his wife Tracie of Plain City, Utah, Rick Jensen and his wife, Lauren, of Salem, Oregon, and Dallen Jensen of South Ogden, Utah.  She admired and loved them all.  While her time and love as a daughter and sister have been exemplary, her example and love for her four nieces and three nephews is unparalleled as well.  Anyone she has encountered as coworkers or as a patient can count themselves as the lucky ones whom she blessed.

Celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the West Bountiful Stake Center, 1930 North 600 West in West Bountiful, Utah.  Viewings will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, February 12, 2018 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah, and Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:45 am at the church prior to the service.  Please join us as we collectively remember and celebrate our dear friend, Emily.
