Emma Krisch

March 12, 1915 — April 16, 2015

Bountiful, Utah – Our beloved mother, and grandmother, known best to her family as “Omi”, passed away peacefully in Bountiful, Utah. A long awaited reunion took place when she met her eternal companion. She was born March 12, 1915 in Gross Jauer, East Prussia, Germany to steadfast parents Gottlieb Stank and Heinriette Skrotzki Stank. Emma was the 5th child of 11 children. The Stank family joined the LDS Church in the 1920s and Emma was baptized along with her father when she was 11 years old. Emma married a choice mate, Wilhelm Krisch on October 28, 1938, who also was a convert to the church. They made their home in Selbongen, but their happiness only lasted six months when World War II started. During the post-war years, she lived in Communist Poland. Her husband Wilhelm fought in World War II and was a prisoner of war. Emma devoted her life to her two little girls, Renate and Christa, by lovingly sacrificing for them. She trusted in the Lord with unwavering faith and prayed unceasingly. Her spirit was full of goodness, light and compassion. The Lord answered her prayers and miracles were performed in their behalf. It was a great blessing, when after a 14-year separation from her husband, they were finally reunited as a family in a free land of peace and promise on August 8, 1957. Those were her happiest years. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 19, 1958. Emma was called to various positions in the Bountiful 10th Ward and both Wilhelm and Emma labored as genealogical missionaries. Later, Emma served diligently as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 10 years. It was evident in her life that our angel mother loved Heavenly Father, our Savior and her family. Her fervent testimony and example is her legacy to each of us. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren, who loved and cherished her. We honor her as a choice daughter of our Heavenly Father, an ensign to our posterity.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Christa (Larry) Rowe, and her sister, Ruth (Kurt) Zerres. Preceded in death by: her parents, Gottlieb and Heinriette Skrotzki Stank; five brothers, Emil (Emilie) Skrotzki, Fritz (Frieda) Stank, Otto Paul Stank, Heinrich August Stank, Paul Rudolf Stank; and three sisters, Martha (Fritz) Kuefner, Ida (Paul) Niehsit, and Gertrud (Kurt) Beyer; husband, Wilhelm Krisch, daughter, Renate Krisch (Carter) George; parents-in-law, Gottlieb Krisch and Marie Penski Krisch.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 27, 2015 at the Bountiful 10th Ward, 1145 North 200 East. Friends and family may call Sunday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful and Monday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
