Emory Gene Dye, a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on August 7, 2018 at the age of 68. He was surrounded by his family and care team at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Emory was born in Mount Pleasant Utah and grew up in Wales, Utah until he joined the United States Army where he spent four years in Germany serving his country. Upon his discharge from the Army, he moved around and then settled his life in North Salt Lake, where he remained until his death. He married Joan Blanchard in 1969, they later divorced but remained great friends until he passed. Emory leaves behind his four children, JoAnne (Wayne) Robinson, Thomas (Beth) Dye, Brent (Dawn) Dye and Chrissy (Tyler) Johnson, twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He also leaves behind his four siblings, Miriam (Val Jean) Hansen, Kathleen (Bill) Eardley, LaPriel Dye and Randle K Dye, numerous nieces and nephews, his best friend, Joel Smith, with whom his shenanigans will continue once they meet again, and his beautiful garden that gave him great joy and comfort. Emory was preceded in death by his parents, T. Rex and Lucy Dye, brothers, Theron Rex Dye and Robert J Dye and granddaughter Kaya Johnson.
A viewing will be held on Friday, August 10th from 6 to 8 pm at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah. Graveside services will be held at the Wales City Cemetery on August 11th at 11:00 am, followed by a celebration of life at Tom's Auto in Moroni.
