Erna Francis Allred Butler

April 15, 1930 — August 15, 2016

Our loving wife and mother returned home on a warm, bright day that reflected the characteristics of her personality after a long and cherished life. She passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family and her devoted husband who had cared for her so lovingly these final years. While we will miss her dearly, we are grateful for her release from the effects of age.
Erna was born in Bothwell, Utah to LeRoy Allred and Mary Justensen Allred and graduated from Bear River High. She later met and married the love of her life, Raymond (Ray) Clifford Butler. The marriage was later solemnized March 15, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple. Erna and Ray spent their married life in several locations including Brigham City, San Diego, The Dalles Oregon and later settled in Bountiful and then Centerville.
Her greatest joy in life was being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lit up anytime a child walked in the room. She was born to be a mother and her caring heart went out to all in countless selfless acts of devotion. Her door and heart was always open to those in need. She spent many years of service to her aging parents and special sister, Tami. Even as her own health was deteriorating her thoughts were of others. She truly was an example of “inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these. . . ye have done it unto me”. Matthew 25:40.
She loved baking, scrap-booking, genealogy, gardening and having family get-togethers. She loved collecting angels, her Christmas tree was covered in them. Many people felt Erna was an angel to them.
She was a member of the LDS Church, the Daughter of the Utah Pioneers, and the Woods Cross City Book Club, where enjoyed her association.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond; daughter, Christi (Craig) Bohn, Woods Cross; Randi, Veradale Washington; Robyn (Kim) Townsend, Fruit Heights; sister, Claralyn (Enoch) Hughes, Sylmar California. She cherished her 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Dale Allred and sister, Tami Allred.
Thanks to her special caregivers at CNS Hospice: Rachel, Julie, Sheryl and Leticia, and Jamie and Sharon with Right at Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 19, 2016 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, where a viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. and Friday morning 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment-Centerville City Cemetery.
