Esther Julia Smith died on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 of natural causes. She was born November 4, 1928. Esther was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a strong testimony of the gospel and a great love for the Savior. She is a direct descendant of Samuel Harrison Smith (her great-grandfather) who is the brother of the prophet Joseph Smith. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Bailey Smith and Martha Heidel Smith; brother, Ralph; sisters, Cumorah and Marion. Esther has two living brothers, Hyrum Smith (Alene) and Raymond Smith (Ruth). She also has extended family of many nieces and nephews. She started work at an early age. She worked for First Security Bank and Zions National Bank for 17 years. She also worked for the LDS Church Genealogy Department (Evaluation) for almost 30 years. She served an LDS mission in the Southern Far East in Hong Kong and Taiwan. She had various church assignments as an ordained temple worker in the Salt Lake Temple, Ward and Stake Sunday School Secretary, Gospel Doctrine Teacher, Genealogy Teacher and Stake Missionary. She also did extensive temple extraction for the Bountiful East Stake. Esther was a friend to all. She was generous and loving to all who knew her. She was an expert in being able to decipher many languages in her genealogy work with the church. She had a special connection with the Lord in answering her many prayers. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main where a viewing will be held 1 hour prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
