Esther Marlene Clark Young

Esther Marlene Clark Young passed away February 8, 2025, at her home in Centerville, Utah, due to incidence of age. Marlene was born in Tooele, Utah, on December 4, 1937. Her parents were Marcellus R. Clark and Hilda Lindberg. Her family included Edith Joy Clark Barrus, and the twins, John Lindberg Clark and Edwin Lindberg Clark.

Marlene married her eternal companion, James Winslow Young, on June 3, 1960, in the Salt Lake Temple. She is the mother of Mark Winslow Young, Dwayne Marcellus Young, Kathleen Young Paradise and Dianne Young Whitten. Her family consists of nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brothers, son Dwayne and her first grandchild Morgan Winslow Young.

Marlene earned a Secretarial Degree from LDS Business College and played the piano and organ beautifully. She held several church callings in teaching children and was the organist in the Bountiful LDS Temple for over 16 years. She also enjoyed singing and was the beloved chorister for the Special Needs Mutual for many years, including the annual musical production by this wonderful group. Marlene was an excellent cook and loved to preserve the foods produced in her extensive garden and orchard.

In summary, through her kindness and cheerful nature, she made our home a slice of heaven on earth. Sincere appreciation is extended to the staff of Atlas Homecare, especially to Stephanie, RN, for the kindness and care given to Marlene.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Centerville South Stake Center, 270 North 300 East, Centerville, Utah, where a viewing will be held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment - Bountiful City Cemetery.
