Ethan Clinton Rapp passed away at the age of 24 on June 3rd, 2023, in Bountiful, Utah. Ethan was born on November 24th, 1998, and spent his life residing in Bountiful, Utah. He attended Woods Cross High School and graduated in 2017. Prior to his death, Ethan had recently graduated from Weber State University with a degree in mechanical engineering and had begun his career in the aerospace industry as a systems engineer focusing on rocket development.
The youngest of six children, Ethan had an inquisitive nature and was driven to explore the world. Whether it was finding bugs, destroying back-yard concrete steps with a hammer, or having an indoor snowball fight with snow-stuffed Ziplock bags, he always found mischievous and innovative ways to tinker with his environment. As a teenager, he balanced different aspects of his personality. He expressed his silly side by wearing bright onesie pajamas everywhere and by creating “pillow world”, an under-the-stairs closet filled with pillows, which delighted not only him but also every child lucky enough to discover it. Academically, Ethan pushed himself with AP courses, particularly excelling in math, and participated in extracurriculars such as wrestling, jiu jitsu, and choir. The summer after high school graduation, he met Aspen Stewart, with whom he enjoyed a 5-year relationship. As a young adult, Ethan began his college experience by earning his associate degree from Utah Valley University.
Family and friends remember Ethan as an accepting, service-oriented individual who showed up for people he cared about. A dedicated uncle, he always made time for his nieces and nephews. He made it a habit to reach out and include others who seemed lonely or in need of a friend. Prior to his passing he spent months serving at his local food bank, where he was a favorite of the regular volunteers. No matter where people were in life, Ethan supported them, cheering for their success and lending a hand when needed.
Ethan was preceded in death by his birth mother, Julie Ann Gilbert Rapp. He is survived by his parents, Paul and Michelle Rapp; sisters, Tiarra, Kyra, and Patrice; and brothers, Shawn and Chris.
A funeral will be held in Ethan’s honor at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10th at the LDS meeting house located at 261 East Center Street, North Salt Lake, UT, 84054. There will not be a viewing service.
