Ethelyn Dickson Graham

September 10, 1923 — May 11, 2016

Ethelyn Dickson Graham, age 92, of Bountiful, Utah passed away on May 11th, 2016. She was born on September 10, 1923 in Ogden, Utah to Sheldon and Mary Ellen Platt Dickson.

Ethelyn married her eternal sweetheart Duane Rodney Graham on November 25, 1949 in the Manti, Utah LDS Temple. Duane preceded her in death on January 14, 2008.

She will be greatly missed by her children: Sheri (Steve) Funk, Jeff Graham, Kathy Graham (daughter-in-law), and Lisa Graham; her brothers: Grant (deceased), Keith (Joan, deceased), Harold (Marge, deceased) and Howard (DeeAnn) Dickson; her step-brothers and sisters: Jerry Graham (Pat, deceased) (Barbara) Nora Mae Willey (Clyde, deceased), Gloria Sonntag (Douglas, deceased), Joan (Mac) Christensen; her 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

The family is grateful to Stacey Josephson for her loving service to Mom for the past seven years as she faithfully came twice a day to care for her.

Ethelyn was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served a Spanish speaking mission in El Paso, Texas; as a Relief Society President, and a Young Women’s President. She served on the Priesthood Correlation Committee and the Young Women’s General Board, where she was able to use her language skills as she traveled on Church assignments. She served for many years as a Stake and also Regional Camp Director, and hiked the High Uintas as she worked on choosing the land and establishing Piuta Girl’s Camp.

Ethelyn was skilled in typing and shorthand and worked for many years as a secretary and executive assistant.

She loved landscaping and gardening. She and Rod hosted several garden receptions in the backyard. She received special recognition from the City of Bountiful for her beautiful yard.

Rod and Ethelyn loved to entertain and welcome people into their home. Halloween with homemade spud-nuts became a tradition of fun and visiting. Original trick-or-treaters eventually brought their own children back for Halloween treats at the Graham’s house.

Ethelyn loved having grandchildren and great-grandchildren come to visit. Despite her disabilities since her stroke nearly 20 years ago, she was always eager to hold the great grand babies when they came.

We will miss her here; but we know she is reunited with her eternal sweetheart who she has missed so deeply.
