Eugene Blundell, 96, died peacefully on March 30, 2019 in his home in Bountiful, Utah. "Gene" was born on August 17, 1922 in Salt Lake City to Albert E. and Lillian Crofts Blundell.
Gene graduated from West High School and married Colleen McComie on June 21, 1946 in Salt Lake City. He served as a pilot in WWII and the Korean War learning on Stearmans and progressing to P 51s, B 17s, and jets. He was honored at the Castle Air Museum in 2012 when he visited his B47 with his son and grandson.
Gene and Colleen settled in Bountiful and were the parents of Eugene D. Blundell and Gail (Shelley) Blundell. Gene was grandfather of five and great-grandfather of ten. We will miss G-Pa.
Gene worked as a trainer at Questar Gas for more than 40 years. He was skilled in everything mechanical. He built houses, airboats and radio -controlled planes, and was always there to help his sons and grandchildren with any project. He could fix anything. He enjoyed gardening, teasing family members and in his later years, learning French and Spanish and traveling many times to France, Mexico, and China. He was a member of the Bountiful Community Church.
Gene is survived by two sons, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, and sister Darlene Hurst. Preceded in death by wife, Colleen, brother Edward (Ted), sisters Jeanette Devereaux and Beverly Loveridge, and granddaughter, Stephanie.
A viewing will be held Friday, April 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, with a graveside service on Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 a.m. at Bountiful Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful.
