1930 ~ 2015

Eugene Sidney Biggs, cherished husband, father and grandfather passed away on October 25, 2015. He was born in Preston Idaho on March 29, 1930 to J. Sidney Biggs and Vera Condie Biggs. He was the oldest of four children. On January 8, 1954 he wed Pauline Perkes of Wellsville Utah. They were married for more than sixty years.

Gene passed away peacefully and without warning in his sleep on Sunday afternoon. His passing brings to an end to many years of suffering from chronic health problems.

From an early age Gene wanted to be an inventor. He and his friends created many go-carts, scooters and motorcycles. He loved to fix up old cars. He gained valuable mechanical experience as a gun smith in his father's gun shop. Eventually he attended Utah State College and studied production and aerospace engineering. He worked as an engineer for several companies including Sperry and Dynapak. His innovative design on an air force flair launcher saved many lives during the Viet Nam conflict. It is still in use today. He has often been described as an excellent boss and an engineering genius. He designed a ski for backpacking that resembles a modern snowboard. He designed the snowmobile long before others made them commercial products.

He greatly valued the people in his life. He was kind and non-judgmental to all whom he met. It was those qualities that made him a natural teacher. He taught machine shop at Weber College for many years. He was a legendary scoutmaster to a troop of more than 60 scouts. Later he was a Deacon Quorum instructor. He also held other LDS church callings. He was a wonderful dad and husband. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Gene is survived by his wife, Pauline; and son Steve; two daughters, Janet Brewer (Mark) and Kathryn Schiffman (Buddy); His brother John Clair (Noma) of Albuquerque NM: His brother Larry C. Biggs (Mary) of Preston Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and younger sister Susan. He has seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
