Evan Carlyle Taylor passed away December 26, 2016 of the effects of Multiple Systems Atrophy. He was in his home in Fruit Heights surrounded by loving family. Evan was born in Provo, UT on March 4, 1934 to Leo Ashted and Annie DeVeda Hansen Taylor. He grew up in Provo and graduated from Provo High School in 1952. He made lifelong friends there and they still had great times talking about their antics nearly sixty-five years later. How he loved his '39 Pontiac!
In 1954 he was called to the West German LDS Mission, where he served for 2 ½ years. Soon after his return home he was drafted into the U.S. Army. However during that interim he was introduced to Constance Buttle on a blind date, and after courting mostly by mail, he asked Connie to join him in Germany where he was once again serving, and they were sealed in the Bern, Switzerland LDS Temple on October 18, 1958, after a required Civil ceremony in Massweiler, Germany in which Evan acted as the interpreter. Still being a guy who loved cars he had purchased a brand new Volkswagen Beatle Convertible that they took on their Honeymoon.
Evan graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Computer Science. He worked many years for Unisys and its various titles, but spent seven years in Cerritos, CA, where he worked at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in a heart research program. After retiring from Unisys, Evan became a Stock Broker and worked for eight years at Fidelity.
The family made their home in Bountiful and were blessed with three daughters: Elizabeth (Randol) Morris, Jennifer (Val) Peterson, and Angela (Lee) Carlton. His wife, Connie survives along with them. They have ten grandchildren: Robert and Amber Morris, Erin Morris, Dennis and Kellie Morris, and Michael Morris; Mitchell and Megann Peterson, Jeffrey and Stephanie Peterson, Brooke and TJ Elkins; Trey, Tiffany and Taylor Carlton. They have seven great-grandchildren: Tayslie, Marcus, Carly, Daniel, Jonathan, Autumn, and Stella. He is also survived by a sister, Kathryn Matson sister-in-law Alta Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews.
After the daughters were married Evan and Connie moved to Farmington, where they lived for twenty years before down sizing to Fruit Heights.
He was a faithful servant of his Heavenly Father all his life, holding many positions over the years. In 2000 he became a host at the Church Museum, a calling he held even after he required a walker to get around. He was there twelve years. He was also an Ordinance Worker in the Bountiful Temple. He was truly a “Fine Old High Priest”.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Kaysville South Stake Center 900 South Main. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At Russon Mortuary 1941 North Main Farmington and at the Church from 9:45 to 10:45 Friday Morning. Interment Bountiful Cemetery.
Special thanks to Symbii Hospice: Emily, Mariam. Michelle and Tom for their tender care.
