Evelyn Deem Burt, beloved mother, grandmother and eternal companion to her husband, passed away of conditions incident to age about 11:30 a.m., 13 September 2012.
She passed away peacefully at home in her assisted living accommodations. She was attended by
her husband, Richard, sister Donna, and daughter Terese.
Evelyn was born 12 January 1926 in Harper Ward, Box Elder County, Utah. She grew up on her family farm and attended the LDS Church throughout her life. I do not think she knew a day in her life that she did not have a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Evelyn married a high school sweetheart, Richard W. Burt shortly after the end of the war, 4 December 1945 in the Logan LDS Temple. Evelyn and Richard had 3 children, Terese (Fife), Neil and Russell. They have 14 grandchildren, one deceased (Nathan), 20 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way.
Evelyn was taught early by her parents how to work, how to learn, and how to serve. She became an expert seamstress – sewing clothes for her family as well as others. She shared her knowledge with many, teaching sewing and tailoring at Orange County Community College. She served, along with her husband, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together Richard and Evelyn served 4 missions for the Church: Nauvoo Illinois; Philippines Micronesia Area (all 14 missions); New York City, Manhattan Family History Center; and Wisconsin Milwaukie, Family History.
Because of health conditions, they had to sell their lovely home in Centerville, which Evelyn designed, and move to an assisted living facility.
Funeral services will be held under the direction of Bishop Ty Jeppesen of the Centerville 5th Ward, 270 North 300 East, Centerville, Utah at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, 18 September 2012 with a viewing on Monday evening at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. There will also be a viewing 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. Tuesday morning at the church prior to services.
