Our Mother and Grandmother, Evelyn Hunsaker Olsen, was mercifully released from the bondage of Alzheimer's on September 11, 2015. Evelyn was born on April 2, 1932 to Lorenzo Snow and Ella Blanch Larsen Hunsaker, in Elwood, UT. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ellis and Lynn Hunsaker, and husband, George Mack Olsen. She is survived by sisters Blanche Christensen, Alice Welker, Gwen Peterson and her children.
Evelyn married George Mack Olsen in the Salt Lake Temple on June 6, 1951. They experienced nearly 62 years together before his passing. She loved being a "stay at home mother" to their four children, Nadine (Steve) Chapman, Steve (Cindy) Olsen, Sandy (Bob) Burgoyne, and Jeff (Juanita) Olsen. She found delight and joy in her 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
Evelyn had a zest and energy for life. She loved playing golf, bowling, and tennis with her friends and was proud of the fact that she became licensed to fly their Cessna 150 airplane when she was 34 years old. She was always conscious of fitness and went on daily walks.
Evelyn was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had a deep and abiding testimony of Jesus Christ. She served in many capacities in the Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary throughout her life as well as being an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake and Saint George Temples. She also served a mission with her husband in the Akron Ohio Mission. Evelyn enjoyed a full and productive life.
As a family, we express gratitude to the hospice nurse and other aids that tenderly cared for her the last two years of her life while she resided at Beehive Senior Living in Eden, UT.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 19th at 11:00 am, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30am prior to the service at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N Main, Bountiful, Utah. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery.
