Evelyn Lucile Haley Barneck passed away on Sunday, 24 August 2014. She was born 16 June 1930 in Caliente, Nevada, to Roscoe Merrill and Lucile Alger Haley, the ninth of eleven children. After graduating from Lincoln County High School, Evelyn went to Salt Lake City, Utah to attend the Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing. It was during this time that she met Charles Arthur Barneck. After interning at the Glockner-Penrose Hospital in Colorado, Evelyn graduated from the school of nursing in June 1951 and married Charles on 13 August 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. She worked at LDS Hospital for many years before retiring in 1980. She stayed very involved with former high school and nursing classmates until her death. She was also very committed to producing personal histories for her family members as well as histories for class reunions.
Evelyn was a gifted seamstress, often creating her own patterns. She created dolls to represent church and family history themes. She was very giving and generous with her time and talents, directing many of her efforts to the LDS Church including serving two full-time Spanish-speaking missions with Charles. She and Charles also spent several years serving in the Bountiful Temple.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Barneck; four children–Michael Ralph (Linda) Barneck, Jeffrey Hugh (JoLynn) Barneck, Gloria (Robert) Neel, and Matthew Charles (Brenda) Barneck; fifteen grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren; brother John (Karan) Haley; sister Edna Grensing; and by many nieces and nephews and other relatives. Preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe & Lucile Haley; sisters Georgia, Alice, Eva, Dorothy , and Marjorie; brothers Willard, Ralph, and Roscoe, and two granddaughters, Jacki and Justine Barneck.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Lakeview Ward, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful. A viewing will be held Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Wednesday morning at the church 12-12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment-Bountiful City Cemetery.
