Evelyn was born October 30, 1920 at her home in Escalante, Utah to Ruby Twitchell and
Warren Jasper Osborn. She was covered in small pox and wasn’t expected to live. At age 98 she returned to her home in heaven on November 15, 2018.
After high school graduation Evelyn completed the program at LDS Hospital School of Nursing. While she was working at the hospital, Dale A. Wilcox, who was visiting a friend at the hospital, was distracted by beautiful nurse Evelyn. A courtship ensued and during this time, Evelyn left hospital work to fly as a stewardess for United Airlines. Dale and Evelyn were married in the Logan Temple May 15, 1942. After their marriage, she had to discontinue her work with the airlines as she was a married woman. She worked in the infirmary at Remington Arms Plant during WW II, in a local obstetrician’s office and again at LDS Hospital as a labor and delivery nurse. They were blessed with four children.
She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived her testimony through love and service throughout her life. She served in the church wherever she was called, including two years with Dale in the Johannesburg South Africa Temple.
She leaves us an extraordinary legacy of devotion to family, caring and nurturing, enduring with great faith, patience, generosity of spirit and an eye for beauty in all of God’s creations.
She is survived by her children Kristine Hall (Charles E.), Wendy Beesley (Frederick L.), Mark O. Wilcox (Susan B.), Camille Carlson (David T.), thirteen grandchildren and twenty eight great grandchildren, and a brother, Herbert H. Osborn (Melba G.).
Viewing at Russon Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, Utah, Tuesday November 20th from 6-8 pm. A Family service and burial will be held in Fielding, Utah on Wednesday November 21st, 2018.
