Ferne Clark White passed away peacefully on April 1, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was known for sweetly answering “I’m fine”, even when she was hurting. Ferne was born June 19, 1920 in Alpine, Utah. She was the seventh child of George Ernest Clark and Belle Wilkin. She had a very happy childhood with her best friends, her six sisters and four brothers. They were always a close family. After high school, Ferne went to the “big” city of Salt Lake to attend LDS Business College and to work at ZCMI. On December 19, 1949, she married George Richards White in the Salt Lake Temple and shared her life with him for 52 years. She was blessed to have two children, Blaine Richards White and Melanie White Tackett, and a step-daughter, Sherrie Ann White Harbertson in her life. Ferne worked for the Utah Driver License Division where she enjoyed many friendships. She retired from that office after 24 years. She loved her Savior and showed that love through many years of church service. She especially enjoyed her ten years serving as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple. Ferne was a nurturer to her children and to her grandchildren. She was selfless in all she did, putting others’ needs before her own. She was a woman of faith and courage. She was often the source of strength and encouragement to others in their times of need as she stood faithful and strong, despite the storms of life. She made us laugh; even after 93 years, she never lost her spunk. Ferne is preceded in death by her son, husband, parents, three brothers-George, Lloyd, Glade-and five sisters-Thurza, Mildred, Norma, Virgie, Dorothy- and their spouses. She will be missed greatly by her sister, Lucille Roberts, brother, Vern (Darlene) Clark, her daughter, Melanie, daughter-in-law, MaryLin (Mark), step-daughter, Sherrie (Mike), her grandchildren Jeremy (Tiffany), Trevor (Loralee), Kallie (Jed), and Brayden, eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews
