Ilene Bruckman, a beautiful daughter of God, a loving companion, mother, sister, grandmother & great grandmother, passed away surrounded by her family on February 16, 2017.
She was born in Coalville, Summit County, Utah to James LeRoy Unthank and Florence Lillian Robinson on February 18, 1934. She was born the fifth of six children. As a child, her family moved to various locations for work opportunities and later settled in the Provo area where they had a small farm. She attended and graduated from the Alpine School District and later attended Brigham Young University in the Nursing program. It is while attending BYU that she met her eternal companion, Jan K Bruckman. They were married on November 23, 1955 in the home of Ilene's parents, later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She spent her life in service to others through her profession as a nurse, as well as to her family and as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She had various leadership roles in the Relief Society Presidency and within the Primary Organization. In her retirement years she worked alongside her husband in family history. They also served a LDS mission together in Oakland California.
She is survived by her brother, R. Wayne Unthank, her sons, Michael David, (Tricia), Jan K Jr, (Jolene), Jeffrey Christopher, (Kathy), and Matthew Kevin, (Tina), as well as 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her husband Jan K Bruckman Sr., Paul Stephen Bruckman, (son), Mark Christopher Bruckman, (grandson).
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Farmington Russon Brothers Mortuary at 1941 N. Main St. Farmington. The funeral services will be held at the Country Creek Ward building located at 625 S. 750 E., Layton on Wednesday. February 22, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. A viewing will be held at the same building from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
