Florence Christenson Niederhauser
1917-2012
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Florence Christenson Niederhauser, passed away May 15, 2012, at the age of 95.
She was born in Gunnison, Utah, on Feb. 16, 1917, to Hyrum and Mary Ann Birkenshaw Christenson and was the youngest of six children. At seven she moved to her home in Sugar House, where she lived for the rest of her long and productive life. She was a member of the first full graduating class from South High School in 1934. She enjoyed sewing and was an avid reader.
She married Ether (Ed) Niederhauser on Oct. 1, 1936, and was later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She enjoyed staying at home to raise her three children. She also worked from 1972 to 1987 at ZCMI’s Sales Audit department.
She is survived by son, Steve Niederhauser, Riverton, Utah; daughter, Gayle (John) McDaniel, Taylorsville, Utah; daughter-in-law, Sherrie Niederhauser, Murray, Utah; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased in death by parents, Hyrum and Mary Ann; brothers, Virgil, Frank, and John; sisters, Ruby and Marie; husband, Ed; and son, Don.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 18, 2012, from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Russon Brothers Mortuary at 255 S. 200 E., Salt Lake City, Utah. A graveside service and interment will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 11:00am at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com
