Life Well Lived
Dad was born on November 30, 1923 in Woods Cross, UT to Floyd and Leone Hepworth Hatch. It was so perfect that he left us on Sunday the 4th of July 2021. He lived in South Davis County for 97 years and spent 73 of those with our mom and his eternal companion, Ruth Jaques Hatch. They had a beautiful love story. It’ll be a happy reunion now that he’s back with his “dolly” again.
Dad took immense pride in his community and always wanted to know and watch what was being built around town. The new Veteran’s Park was his favorite thing. He went down daily to see how they were coming and was so proud to have his name included. He was a World War II veteran serving in the 509th Army Air Force on Tinian Island in the South Pacific. He loved talking about his time and service to his country. He had some amazing stories. He and mom traveled the world but his favorite trip was having the privilege of going to Washington DC on the Honor Flight with his daughter.
Dad was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and serviced in many positions. He was a wonderful example to us all of being a good husband, dad, friend and neighbor. Next to his love of the gospel and family was his YARD! His hobby was a beautiful lawn and flowers and he sure excelled. Right up until the end he said he had to “get out there”. No one was more determined than pop was.
Dad is survived by 2 loving children, Robert A. Hatch (Karla) and Pam J. White (Jack), 11 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 sons, Garry L. Hatch, Scott J. Hatch and Stephen K. Hatch.
We want to give a special thanks to the staff of Independence Home Health & Hospice and especially his caregiver, Helena Mausia and her sweet family. We couldn’t have honored dad’s wishes to stay home without them. We’ll be forever grateful for his care.
