Floyd Moon, 93, beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away peacefully of natural causes, in the arms of his son Bill, Wednesday morning November 16, 2022. He lived a long, wonderful life and will be forever missed.
He was born April 2, 1929 in Provo Utah to Nephi and Ettie Moon. Dad was number 9 of thirteen children. He was raised on the family ranch in Hanna Utah. Floyd loved his younger years working on the ranch. He went to school in Hanna and later in Provo Utah. After High School Floyd attended Brigham Young University and received his degree in accounting. He then went on to the University of Illinois and earned a Master's degree in accounting. He became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and continued to hold this professional certification throughout his working career.
Dad served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Central Atlantic States Mission (North Carolina, West Virginia, Tennessee and Virginia) from 1950-1952. His granddaughter Holly Moon served and oldest great grand-son Jakob Bowler is now serving in the same areas.
Floyd proudly served in the US Army from July 1952 to May 1954.
Dad married his sweetheart and love of his life Sarah Darlene Herron (Sally) September 3, 1954 in the Salt Lake City Temple. Floyd and Sally had 5 sons Steven, Keith, Wayne, Kevin and Bill with only 6 years separating the oldest from the youngest. (yes, we kept them very busy) Floyd and Sally were dedicated to raising their sons setting high standards and expectations.
Floyd spent his working years with Haskin and Sells (Deloitte) in San Francisco, CA. The family then moved to Salt Lake City, UT where he worked for Snarr Advertising, Telemation, Bonneville International and Desert Management Corporation. At Desert Management Corporation Dad had the privilege to work with President Hinckley, the First Presidency and many other church brethren.
The gospel of Jesus Christ has been the center of Dad's life and he had a powerful testimony. He enjoyed many years of church service in numerous ward and stake positions including financial clerk, stake auditor and a counselor in the bishopric. After he retired, Floyd and his wife Sally served a Service Mission at Welfare Square in Salt Lake City Utah.
Family has always been a big part of his joy and happiness. Dad loved family gatherings and reunions. He arranged many wonderful extended family vacations to locations throughout the western United States and Canada. His family enjoyed going on cruises with him and visiting many fabulous places.
He is survived by four sons Steven (Diana), Keith (Sherlyn), Wayne (Deborah), Bill (Laraine), daughter in-law MaryAnn, Native American son Dennis Charlie, 22 Grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and brother Roger Moon.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sally, son Kevin, both parents and 11 of his siblings.
The family gives a special thank you to all of the caregivers that gave our father special care during the past few years. We especially express thanks to those who lived with Dad since Mom passed away-grandchildren Matt, Kristi, Holly, Britnie, Spencer, and dear friends Ashley, Allyson, Emily, Jared, Tammi and Amanda Smith. . Thank you to Canyon Home Health and his podiatrist Dr. Dan Preece and caring staff.
