Francis Earl Young

December 21, 1930 — April 22, 2017

Francis Earl Young passed away April 22, 2017.  He was 86 years old.

Earl was born December 21, 1930 at Hugoton, Kansas to Georgia B. Graves and Francis Earl Stromer.  He was the first born of four sons.  Georgia later married Richard Oliver Young, at which time Earl changed his last name to Young.

Earl graduated from high school in Manti, Utah, May 1950.  Subsequently, he served a two year mission in Northern California  from 1950 to 1952.

After his mission he was drafted into the army and spent the next two years in Korea.  He served until December 1954.  He was a talented young man full of a desire to write poetry and songs and to bring a smile to anyone he met.  He loved western movies and loved to sing Gene Autry songs to his children and anyone else who would listen.  

Earl was married to Utahna Elder June 7, 1956, in the Los Angeles Temple being the 56th couple married there after its recent dedication.  He is survived by his wife Utahna, of 61 years, his brother Clarence, 5 children: Laurie and (Doug) Vandegrift, Rick and (Terri) Young, Frank Young, Jim Young, Nate and (Kristine) Young, 19 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by brothers Harry and Tom, son Abram Earl, and great grandson Tace.

Funeral services will be held Friday April 28, 10:00 am  at the Bountiful North Stake Center, 1540 North 400 East, Bountiful with a viewing to precede services from 8:30 to 9:30 am.  Interment and military honors will be at the Utah Veterans Cemetery following services.
