Francis McCombs

June 25, 1938 — June 14, 2012

On June 14, 2012 Frank slipped peacefully away, encircled by his devoted family, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born in Claremore, Oklahoma, Frank relocated to California in his youth, where he met the love of his life, Audrey Wyman. Childhood sweethearts became man and wife in 1956, and were sealed in the Bountiful temple in 2001. In 1956 Frank enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, beginning his stellar 20 year career. Serving two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 3rd Marine Division, he was a decorated veteran and expert marksman with the USMC Rifle and Pistol Team. His love of learning and keen intellect motivated him to earn a Master of Science Degree in Business Administration and Human Resource Development. A natural leader and born communicator, Frank was affiliated with many organizations: the Masons, American Legion, NRA, Marine Corps League, Disabled American Vets, Great Western Fly Fishers Club, Bountiful Lions Club Shooting Range, to name a few. He most recently served as the Post Commander for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8868. His love of his country, the LDS church, hunting, fishing, sailing, marksmanship, and bluegrass music was only eclipsed by his love for his family. He is survived by his wife Audrey, daughter Anita , sons Frank (Lisa) and David (Karen), sister Josephine (Dennis) Wazac, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. An officer and gentleman in the truest sense, he touched the lives of all that had the good fortune to know him. He will be dearly missed.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Bountiful 13th Ward, 1365 North 650 East. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main and Tuesday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
