BOUNTIFUL – Frank Dale Burns, Age 100, passed away peacefully December 11, 2016.
He was born November 19, 1916 in Tremonton, Utah, son of Charles Albert W. and Eva Walker Burns. He married his sweetheart, Vera May Evans September 1, 1938 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple June 1, 1939. Vera passed away in 2006.
Dad grew up in humble circumstances being one of 10 children. At age 18 he joined the CCC camp laboring in the hills above Bountiful sending his pay home to help support the family. He was a faithful and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was a World War II veteran, receiving the Bronze Star for “heroic or Meritorious Achievement”. Expanding his trucking business which began in 1938, Frank owned and operated Burns Feed and Supply in Bountiful and Kaysville from 1946 to 1977. He was a member of the Bountiful Lions Club 1960 to present, serving as President in 1984. He received many awards and honors throughout his life, including “Lion of the Year” in 1987 and again in 1993. In 1989 Frank was an honorary recipient of the Utah Chapter of the Freedom Foundation for his civic service. He spearheaded many Lions club and civic projects. His life was one of service and outstanding contributions to his country, community, church, neighbors and family. His most joyous times were spent with his wife and family playing cards, singing and camping.
Dad, thank you for your love and the many wonderful memories. We know it was time for you to leave this life and reunite with mom and other loved ones.
Survived by his three children, Geniel (Don) Mecham, Ron (Cathy) Burns, Lana (Larry) Richardson, 12 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren, one sister Norma Thomas, and one brother Ferrell Burns.
Preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers, and four sisters.
Viewing will be Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 9:30 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am in the Bountiful 43rd Ward chapel, located at 990 North 100 West, Bountiful, Interment will be at the Farmington City Cemetery with Military rights.
