Frank Annival Roybal

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Frank A. Roybal, returned to his Father in Heaven on November 1, 2023.  He was born on September 8, 1938, in Gilman, Colorado, to Tomasita Aerts Roybal and Annival Roybal.  Frank attended Davis High School where he excelled in the classroom, wrestling team, baseball team and earned All-State baseball team honors as a catcher.  He served four years in the U.S. Marine Corp and earned the rank of Sergeant with duties of Battalion Staff Instructor leading a platoon of Marines.

In 1959, Frank married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Joan Hepworth Roybal.  They became the proud parents of three sons, Scott, Chris, and David.  Frank worked 14 years in the insurance business during the latter portion of which he decided to attend college for the first time.  While working full-time and raising a family, Frank graduated from the University of Utah in 1972 with honors, magna cum laude, in Speech Communications.  He also graduated from the University of Utah’s law school in 1976.  He spent two years as an Assistant City Attorney with the City of Bountiful and later opened his own sole practice law firm in 1981 which spanned more than 40 years where he practiced a wide array of law including civil and criminal defense litigation and trial work, personal injury, trusts, domestic relations, and corporate, among others.  He also was a College of Business Instructor at the U of U for seven years.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Tomasita and Annival, and his younger brother, Reggie, and sister, Patricia.  Frank is survived by his wife, Joan, of 64 years; three sons, Scott (Barbara), Chris (Cindy), and David (Shelly); seven grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, November 10, 2023 at the South Davis Stake Center, 270 North 300 East, Centerville, Utah. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.  Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful Utah.
