Our feisty little Mom?Frankie May Wharton Olson, passed away in Bountiful, Utah on Sunday October 18, 2009. She has struggled with many physical challenges in her lifetime, fighting fiercely to remain independent; but advanced age related causes finally took her life. She was the 4th of six children born to George Wharton and Lillie May Prout, June 11, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After a four month courtship she married Dale P. Olson in Salt Lake City, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Frankie was a good wife to Dale, a loving mother to her children and she especially loved all the grandchildren over the years. Mom was a fun person who liked to have a good time. She had many friends and did she ever love her girls! She could giggle along with the best of us, she taught her girls how to sew, cook and do everything she knew how to do. The Olson home was always attractive, clean and neat even when she was nearing 90 years old. Frankie was active in 4H with the girls and spent many years in the American Legion, planning Gold Star Mothers lunches and holding leadership positions. Frankie and Dale were active in the LDS Church and she faithfully served in many callings during her life. Surviving her are daughters, Janet Lynne Danner Lee, Kristie Wernli and Dale Rae Guymon and 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, 4 step grand children, 9 step great grand children and 7 step great great grandchildren. Her brother Jack Wharton Vi. Preceded in death by her husband, parents, baby daughter Shannon Lillie, siblings Elsie Radler, George Wharton, Ethel Plumhof, Don Wharton, son-in-law John Wernli and Great Grandson Daniel Barker and Great Great Grandson Kyler Barker. Our thanks to those who have lightened her load these last few years and have been her friends and helpers. She dearly missed her many friends and family who passed on before her. The Applegate Homecare has been so good to her, we appreciate you so much. Her final home at Country Oaks was a true blessing to our family. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 22, 2009 at the Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main, where a visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services.
