Fred Arthur Horsley passed away surrounded by his children on February 29, 2016.
He was born April 18, 1923, in Bountiful, Utah, to Arthur and Myrtle Jane Boulton Horsley. Except for the time he spent stationed in England during WWII, Dad lived his more than 92 glorious years in Bountiful.
Dad married the love of his life, Esther Lee, on November 5, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. His biggest joys were spending time with Mom, raising their children, and spoiling their grandchildren.
Fred worked hard all of his life. As a young man, his work on the family farm included gathering and preparing hundreds of eggs for market each day. He also worked at the Davis farm across the street from his family home. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after 42 years.
Dad also took great pride in his garden, providing fresh vegetables for his family and friends which often lasted throughout the year. He will be remembered for his kind heart and generosity, always putting others and their needs before his own.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife; sweet infant daughter, Kathleen; parents; brothers, Allen and Gordon; and sister, Edith. He is survived by his children, Lee (Pam) Horsley, Janet (Kelly) Wright and Jo Ann (Brad) Squire, 12 grandchildren and their spouses, and 36 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016, 11:00 a.m., at the Bountiful 16th Ward Chapel, 720 E. 550 N., Bountiful. A visitation with the family will be held Friday, March 4, at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 N. Main, Bountiful, from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m., and prior to the funeral service from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the Bountiful 16th Ward Chapel.
The family wishes to thank Welcome Home Assisted Living and their compassionate staff as well as Susan, Mark, and Amanda with Tender Care Hospice for the loving care they provided during his final days.
