Frederick "Bud" Naisbitt

June 28, 1931 — March 16, 2014

Biography

Fred passed away quietly at home on March 16, 2014 with his loving wife Shauna by his side. Fred was born on June 28, 1931 in Salt Lake City to Frederick Thomas Naisbitt and Arba Sorensen Naisbitt. He graduated from West High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army shortly thereafter. He served 2 years active duty in Korea. After returning home he moved to Alaska where he spent time hunting and fishing with his mother and stepfather, Cliff Warburton. He returned to Salt Lake and married Shauna Draper on Feb. 5, 1955 and together they had 4 daughters. He worked for Stauffer Chemical in Salt Lake for 30 years, and was transferred to Rock Springs Wyoming where he worked for Chevron Chemical until he retired. After retiring, Fred and Shauna returned to their home in Centerville.
Fred’s greatest passions in life were his family, his many wonderful friends, and the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a member of the North Pointe Duck Club for most of his life. He loved spending time at the Duck Club, where he was known as “Flash”, and the other members were like family to him. He often brought his small daughters to the club, where they would catch carp in the summer and skate on the frozen lakes in the winter. As the girls got older, it was there they learned how to drive and how to shoot a shotgun. Fred had many dogs throughout his life that were well known at the club. His last and favorite dog was Cheech, and when she died it was fitting to bury her there.
Fred also loved golfing, snowmobiling, spending time at Flaming Gorge, and at his cabin near Park City. Those were his happiest times, and they were enriched because they were shared with family and great friends.
Survived by his wife Shauna; daughters Leslie Sorensen, Stacey Maxfield (Bob), Bobbi Ellis (Gary), Jana Wolfe (Ralph); 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents and his only sibling Mary McKell.
