Grosi: edelweiss scarf bearer, mischievous chocolate distributor, zopf master, and woman of faith died on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the comfort of her home. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Grosi during her 87 years such as:
Don't be late to choir. Pray always. Marry a painter, preferably one who paints temple murals and likes to ski. If you are having a hard time getting your blended family to church on time, bake bread. Tell them they can't have any bread until they are dressed and ready for church. Go to church with mini-eggs in your purse. Hand out the mini-eggs in Relief Society—especially on fast Sunday. Never complain. Ever. Always carry around $50 to covertly slip into your grandchildren's pockets. Weed your garden. Often. Make tea from the linden tree in your backyard. If it's cold buy a bear cap. If you are still cold, pair it will a camel fur coat. When finances allow, visit Switzerland. Yodel once a week. Do your visiting teaching the first week of the month. Always, always carry Ricola. Send birthday cards, every year, to everyone. Church-Office cafeteria muffins are far superior than Costco muffins. Driving is overrated, take the bus to work. Have an opinion, be firm in your beliefs when you just want to eat bacon. There is no such thing as too much yarn. When you attend a soccer game, yell loud—if you are in Idaho, yell something about potatoes. Be accepting of others with different backgrounds and cultures: French, Dutch, Turkish, Samoan, and American. When a grandchild comments on liking a Lawrence Welk episode, buy her a violin. Make the temple a priority. Be kind to all animals, especially woodland creatures. Keep a large food storage of cookies. Just in case.
Grosi is reunited with her husband and favorite dance partner, Walter Fritz Gysler. A celebration of her life will be held at 11AM Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Tabernacle on Main and Center in Bountiful, Utah. Family and friends may visit Tuesday, between 10 & 10:45AM at the Tabernacle. Interment will be at the Lakeview Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that you make a donation to your own Switzerland travel fund. Grosi loved the majestic mountains, the goats, and traditional chalets. She wanted everyone to experience the beauty of her homeland. Alternatively, watching The Sound of Music or Drei Hazelnusse fur Aschenbroedel paired with some of your favorite chocolate will suffice.
