Fritz Carl Hohmann passed away on January 9, 2015, from causes incident to age. He was born August 18, 1919 in Schneidemuhl, West Prussia, Germany, to Max Karl Richard Hohmann, and Anna Hedwig Ihnenfeldt. His family immigrated to the United States in 1928. His marriage to Judith Elise Scharfschwerdt on September 21, 1946, in Long Island, New York, was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple in October, 1946.
He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1941 with a BA degree, and received a Masters degree from New York University in 1952.
He worked for Grumman Aircraft Company, and then Western Union Laboratories, where he was involved in making the first transistor radios. He was a devoted civil servant for many years at Hill Air Force Base, where he was a Director of Procurement. A highlight of his career was the two years he served as Chief of Quality Control at Tainan Air Base, Tainan, Taiwan.
Throughout his life, Fritz was a faithful, active member of the LDS Church. He served as an ordinance worker in the Salt Lake Temple for 17 years and as a veil worker in the Bountiful Temple. He completed four stake missions, served as Sunday School President, and was an excellent gospel instructor.
He loved reading and treasured the many books in his library. He enjoyed writing and celebrated success when his book Deborah was published. He also loved painting, especially landscapes.
He loved his many friends and had a particular love for his family. In all of his activities, his family came first.
Fritz is survived by his wife of 68 years, Judith, and three daughters: Carol (Robert) Rasmussen; Christine (Joel) Briscoe, Adrienne McDaniel; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the Bountiful 11th Ward, 115 Wicker Lane. Friends and family may call Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main and Saturday morning 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to services.
