Gary Earl Fisher

April 12, 1940 — April 19, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our wonderful father, grandfather, and brother, Gary Earl Fisher, who passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, after celebrating his 85th birthday the previous week. Born on April 12, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Gary was the son of Ray and Virgina Fisher. For more than sixty years, Gary was married to Elaine Thomsen, until her passing in 2024. They shared a remarkable journey together and are now united again.

Gary owned and operated his own residential building company, where his passion for craftsmanship and commitment to excellence were evident in every project he touched. Specializing in custom homes, Gary not only managed and oversaw each home and project-he immersed himself in it, often completing the finish work himself to ensure every detail met his high standards.

His dedication to quality and precision became a signature of the homes he built, each one reflecting not just beauty, but the care and pride he poured into his work. With an eye for detail and hands skilled in carpentry learned from his own father, Gary transformed raw materials into warm, welcoming homes that stood as a testament to his talent, honesty, and integrity. His clients trusted him not only for his skill, but for the genuine passion he brought to creating spaces where families could build their lives.

Family was the most important part of Gary's life. He immersed himself wholeheartedly in the lives of his children and grandchildren, always making time to show up, listen, cheer on, and to love deeply. Each grandchild held a special place in his heart-so much so that he gave each one a unique nickname, a small but meaningful reflection of the relationships he nurtured with them. He loved their individual personalities, encouraging their talents and celebrating their milestones with genuine pride. Gary sought out every opportunity to create lasting memories. His tender heart was evident in the way he spoke to his family-with gentleness, warmth, and lots of humor. To Gary, family wasn't just part of life-it was the very heart of it.

Gary was an avid outdoorsman who found joy and peace in nature. He loved to fish, camp, hike, and golf-activities that allowed him to connect with the world around him and spend quality time with loved ones. His passion for golf extended beyond the course; he took such meticulous pride in his yard that he mowed his grass in precise diamond patterns, giving it the manicured look of a PGA fairway. Gary also enjoyed nights walks in Zion National Park, often bringing his grandchildren along on adventures to spot deer under the stars-creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured.

Beyond his love of nature, Gary was a dedicated bowler who participated in multiple leagues over the years, even serving as league President-a role he took on with enthusiasm and care. His leadership was matched only by his personality. Gary was truly the life of the party, the kind of person who could light up a room with his presence. He had an incredible gift for making people feel welcome, valued, and completely at home. Whether it was around a campfire, at a bowling alley, or during a backyard barbecue, Gary's warmth and laughter left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Gary is survived by his two daughters, Lori (Chan) Epling, and Piper (Michael) Christensen. His beloved grandchildren Chantelle, Lindsey, Kayden, Alexis, McKenna, and Riley, and his extended family. Gary is also survived by his siblings Stan Fisher, and Anne (Craig) Stam.

A private service will be held for immediate family. Gary will be interred at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
