Gary Lynn Jensen, Sr.

Gary Lynn Jensen, Sr., a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was called to embark on a full-time mission to preach to God’s children in the spirit world on May 13th, 2024, at the age of 74. He was cherished as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on March 18th, 1950, in Emmett, Idaho, Gary led a life guided by principles of hard work, humor, faith, compassion, and devoted service to others. His mantra: “See a need fill a need.” He exemplified the teachings of Jesus Christ through his steadfast dedication to his family, community, and covenants with God.

Throughout his journey, Gary embraced every responsibility and fulfilled each duty with unwavering devotion. In 1969, he served as a missionary in the Brazil, Rio de Janeiro Mission, and continued to serve in various capacities within the Church, impacting the lives of countless individuals with his kindness, wisdom, and selflessness. He found fulfillment in sharing the gospel and uplifting those around him, irrespective of where they were in their spiritual journey.

Gary was preceded by his parents, Jacob Andrus Jensen and Alma Eileen LaPier, and his brother Don Leroy Jensen. He is survived by Jake Jensen, JJ Abernathy, Raun (Renee) Jensen, and Janeen (Steve) Krambule. Gary’s legacy of love and faith will be carried forward by his beloved wife, Marcia Rae Jensen, children Amber (Steven) Rosales, Ginger (Mark) Avitt, Gary (James) Jensen, Jr., Cameron (Jill) Jensen, and Summer Matthews, eighteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Though deeply missed by all who knew him, his memory will serve as a perpetual source of inspiration and guidance.

The main viewing will be held Sunday, May 19, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Following the service, Gary will be interred at the Memorial Lakeview Cemetery, 1640 E. Lakeview Drive, Bountiful Utah. In lieu of flowers, contributions to assist with Gary’s funeral costs may be made by clicking on the blue “Donate Now” button below this obituary.

Gary desires that no one grieves for him. Instead, he wishes for you to discover solace and tranquility in the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He hopes that all of us will hold onto the promise of a magnificent resurrection, made attainable through the Atonement of our Savior. Gary has attained eternal peace and wishes his family to take comfort in knowing that he is reunited with loved ones on the other side. He eagerly anticipates the moment when he will embrace all those that he loved when we meet again.
