Gaye Jacobs Reed

June 29, 1939 — October 11, 2017

Bountiful, UT – Go with our love Mom, Nana, Gaye.  You truly did endure to the end…and beyond.  Your devotion to family, zest for life and dedication to the gospel are your lasting legacy.
Gaye was born and raised in Oakland, California, and graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English (and minors in Pig Latin and Gibberish).  She taught school, owned her own businesses, and served tirelessly in the LDS church.  She adored her husband and their four children, and was always open to the many, many adventures life brought their way.  Their exploits together included living and working in Turkey, England and Germany, while traveling to the four corners of the earth.  No matter where she went, Gaye always shared her quick wit, spunky personality, and a Coke or a chocolate bar.
Gaye was sealed to the love of her life Ken on August 10, 1962 in the Logan temple.  Her four kids and 22 grandkids were continually charmed by her love for them and her silly songs, and for being the ringleader of playful teasing.  She adored her family and always prioritized them above all else.
Gaye was a shining example of good and shared her firm testimony of Jesus Christ through her words and actions.  She stood up for every underdog, saw value in every person and loved becoming fast friends with people wherever she went.  Although Alzheimer's disease caused her light to fade in recent years, she brightened every life she touched.
Gaye is survived by her children Myken Crowell Shingleton (Brent), Roger Reed (Jill), Matt Reed (Christy) and Shannon Barnhill (Scott).  She was preceded in death by her husband Ken, sister Caryl Ashcroft, brother Larry Jacobs, and son-in-law Jeff Crowell.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Russon Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, Bountiful, Utah.  Viewings will be held at the mortuary on Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. and Friday morning from 10:45 – 11:45 a.m. prior to services.  Interment – Lakeview Cemetery.
