Gayle Loa Rees

July 31, 1944 — February 3, 2020

Gayle Loa (Hallman) Rees passed away peacefully Monday morning February 3 rd . She was born in Salt Lake City to Emma Loa Jacobsen and Hugh Powell Hallman. Hugh, a pilot during WWII, was killed during a training flight when she was 9 months old. Her mother later married Joseph Orson Stockseth whom she would call Dad for the rest of her life. Gayle graduated from Davis High School in 1962 and Weber State University in 1988. Gayle worked as the school secretary for Ogden High School until moving to the IRS. She later transitioned to Defense Depot Ogden then transferred to Hill Air Force Base. She worked part time at Ben Franklin in Roy, UT. During her time in the personnel office at HAFB, Gayle travelled to Guam to help transition many Guamanian families stateside due to a base closure. She made many wonderful friends during this time and referred to her time in Guam as one of the greatest experiences of her life. She retired after 31 years of government service. Gayle treasured family above all else. Her influence on the lives of her grandchildren cannot be measured. Her love went beyond the family and was called “Grandma Rees” by many others. She had many close friends and was especially fond of her nieces, nephews and their children. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 8, 11:00 am at Russon Mortuary-Syracuse, 1585 West 300 South, 84075.  A viewing will be held before the service from 9:30-10:30.

Interment will be at the Clinton City cemetery.
